Witherslack Hall Equestrian Centre Launch YE

On Sunday 8th of May 2016 Witherslack Hall Equestrian Centre launched their new Young Equestrians club. A total of 11 attend their first session, which started off with them gathering in the social room getting to know each other and introducing themselves. Deana Tarr (proprietor) and Honor Fenton (volunteer) asked all the YEs what they would like to get out of the club. Once they felt at ease they came up with a variety of fantastic ideas such as – exploring different disciplines, learning how the horse moves and functions, feeding, clipping, trimming and plaiting. They also discussed what they would like to do socially, ideas like trips to horse shows, the vets and Your Horse Live were mentioned.

For the first session lunging was introduced to the YEs as this is something they wanted to try as they had never done it before. They all enjoyed working with the horses on the ground as opposed to riding. Next time they would like to help each other with their riding and start looking at some coaching techniques. They would also like to start working towards their Bronze Young Equestrian Leaders Award.

“Young Equestrians was fantastic it gave us an opportunity to try things we may not get to learn in a normal riding lesson. It felt free and easy and based around what we wanted to learn I LOVED IT!” Ella Wadsworth

WHEC Young Equestrians will meet every month. The next session will be on the 12th June 2016 at 1.30 pm
